— the search engine for what you didn't know you needed —

What is this

The Opposite Search Engine is a free tool from tinythings.fun that finds the opposite of whatever you search for. Type any word, concept, or question — receive not just an antonym but a conceptual inversion. What you get back is often more interesting than what you asked.

Why we built it

Every search engine is optimised for precision — finding exactly what you want. We built one for the other direction. The opposite of 'productivity' isn't 'laziness.' The opposite of 'home' isn't 'away.' These inversions turn out to be fascinating, and occasionally more useful than the original query.

How to use it

  1. Type any word, phrase, or concept in the search box.
  2. Hit enter or click search.
  3. Receive its conceptual opposite — not just a dictionary antonym, but an inversion of the idea.
  4. Think about what you got back.

Questions

What is the Opposite Search Engine?
A free tool from tinythings.fun that returns the conceptual opposite of any word or idea you search for. Not just antonyms — inversions.
Is this just a thesaurus?
No. A thesaurus finds synonyms. This finds the opposite — and it interprets 'opposite' conceptually, not just linguistically. Try searching 'Tuesday' or 'warmth.'
Who built this?
Jobel, who makes tinythings.fun — a collection of small interactive web experiments.
Is it free?
Yes. All tinythings experiments are free.
